TPBS are written solely by Fred D. Whitelaw, a veteran gospel preacher within the churches of Christ. He began preaching regularly while in his teens and has now served the same local church continuously for the past thirty years.
His standard reply when asked how he managed to find time and energy to concurrently conduct over 300 full gospel meetings by age 50, preach for a home church, and operate a demanding family business: “I was naturally blessed with a cast-iron constitution and a tenacious desire to never give up but whatever good I may have accomplished in this life is inseparable from my Joyce’s unwavering faith, encouragement, and loyalty at all seasons.”
He began writing these lessons when chronic health problems curtailed his ability to travel to speaking engagements.
Christianity is an everyday “way of life” with the Whitelaws and the TPBS approach is to expose modernity’s hedonistic superficiality and accentuate the plain truths of God’s Saving Word. The lessons result from much independent observation and thought.
No claim is made that any subject is treated exhaustively. The author’s primary desire is to stimulate independent thinking.
(Eccl. 12:12) “Much study is a weariness of the flesh” but it is an imperative if we are to shun Hell and gain Heaven. 2008
